Call Me Alma (2023)

Plot

Alma, played by Azi Acosta, is a high-end bar girl who has fully embraced prostitution as her chosen path to achieve her dreams. She serves any man who can meet her price, with two favorites: a wealthy lawyer and a bank executive she nicknames Tiger Joe and Kabayo. A devoted student client also declares his love for her. Her steady life is upended when Sheila, played by Jaclyn Jose, an aging street prostitute, reveals she is Alma's mother, having sold her as an infant. This revelation forces Alma to confront the painful past she has long avoided—a search for her father, an ailing mother, and the harsh truths of poverty and exploitation. Ultimately, both women must make defining choices about who they are.
