Plot
In 1759, Mauritius Island is dominated by French settlers, leaving the enslaved population to endure a life of fear on sugar cane plantations. While her father Massamba has resigned himself to their grim reality, 16-year-old Mati is determined to defy the oppressive system. Fueled by hope and courage, she embarks on a journey to challenge the status quo and reclaim her agency, igniting a spark of resistance among her fellow captives.
