The Iron Triangle: Willets Point and the Remaking of New York (2017)
Plot
For decades, Willets Point—New York City’s gritty “Iron Triangle”—has been targeted for redevelopment, dating back to Robert Moses. Hundreds of immigrant-run auto shops thrive here despite crumbling infrastructure, but in 2013, the Bloomberg administration pushes a “dynamic” luxury entertainment district that would erase this historic industrial core. Racing against eviction, the workers’ struggle becomes a lens into New York’s legacy of deindustrialization, urban renewal, and gentrification.
