During World War II, Allied forces unleashed over five million bombs on Nazi Germany—and roughly one in ten never detonated. Today, German bomb disposal teams face the deadly aftermath, risking their lives daily to neutralize these volatile relics. Each year, some 5,000 unexploded ordnances are discovered, forcing tens of thousands to evacuate. On average, these teams clear about 100 WWII bombs every week.
