Plot
Anna Elizabeth Heegaard, a free woman of color, possesses considerable wealth and her own enslaved people when she enters a passionate relationship with Peter von Scholten, the Danish colony’s governor-general. At lavish dinners, they talk of social change as an enslaved boy, suspended overhead, fans them with feathers. Meanwhile, murmurs of an uprising creep through the shadows.
