In March 1981, John Hinckley opened fire on President Ronald Reagan, an assassination attempt fueled by his twisted fixation on Martin Scorsese's *Taxi Driver* and actress Jodie Foster. Though the shooting failed to kill Reagan, it stunned the globe and left an indelible mark on the course of American history.
