Pandari Bai (18 September 1928 – 29 January 2003), known in Kannada as ಪಂಡರೀ ಬಾಯಿ, was a celebrated actress who dominated South Indian cinema, particularly Kannada films, from the 1950s through the 1970s. Regarded as Kannada cinema's first successful leading lady, she broke new ground for women in the industry. Remarkably, she portrayed both the heroine and the mother of legendary actors such as Rajkumar, MGR, and Sivaji Ganesan at different stages of her career. She played the female lead in Rajkumar's debut film, Bedara Kannappa, as well as in Sivaji Ganesan's first movie, Parasakthi. Over the course of her prolific career, she appeared in more than 1,000 films across Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi. Her versatility and longevity made her one of the most respected figures in South Indian film history.
